Vision & Values

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. They underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an enriching learning environment which promotes the flourishing of all. 

Our Vision

Our vision is deeply rooted in love, unlocking potential and opening doors through our Christian foundation.

We aim to:

  • Be a beacon to the wider community, guiding others and shining light on one another to live well together. (I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life. - John 8 v 12)
  • Create well-rounded individuals, who flourish and celebrate life in all its fullness, through a broad and balanced curriculum and wider opportunities, developing wisdom, knowledge and skills. (I have come that they may have life and have it to the full. - John 10 v 10)
  • Treat each person as a unique individual, celebrating differences and showing dignity and respect for all. (I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made. - Psalm 139 v 14)
  • Join together on the same path, whatever the starting point, to guide one another to fulfil our full potential, with hope and aspiration. ("For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord. "Plans to prosper you and not to harm you. Plans to give you hope and a future." - Jeremiah 29 v 11)

 

Our Values

Our Rainbow Values underpin all we do:

  • Acceptance (Accept one another, then, just as Christ has accepted you. - Romans 15 v 7)
  • Honesty (Whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable - if anything is excellent or praiseworthy - think about such things. - Philippians 4 v 8)
  • Happiness (Take delight in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart. - Psalm 37 v 4)
  • Perseverance (And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. - Hebrews 12 v 1)
  • Forgiveness (Do not judge and you will not be judged. Do not condemn and you will not be condemned. Forgive and you will be forgiven. - Luke 6 v 37)
  • Responsibility (Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also the interests of others. - Philippians 2 v 4)
  • Respect (So, in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you. - Matthew 7 v 12)

Aims of the School

At Farnsfield St. Michael’s C of E Primary School we aim to create a learning environment where all individuals can:

• Have a positive self-image
• Be excited by being at school
• Feel a valued and significant member of the school community
• Develop a love of learning
• Feel secure in a happy and friendly atmosphere
• Strive for excellence in all areas of learning
• Experience learning in a wide variety of contexts

To achieve these aims the school will provide a rich curriculum which is broad, balanced and creative, promoting life in all it's fullness. It will be designed to meet the needs and abilities of all pupils. The learning and teaching practise of the school will take into account different learning styles. We recognise that all individuals operate in different ways and with different strengths. The school will strive to ensure that an inclusive approach is adopted in regard to individual needs, celebrating each child's uniqueness.

Our approach to education is to put the individual child at the centre of all our work. The aims of the school have as a focus a desire to develop the academic ability of individuals along with their emotional, social, physical and spiritual dimension. There will be high expectations of all individuals to enable each and every one to flourish.
